Every thing ok for Airtel-Telenor merge
Telecom Department (DoT) has recently approved the merger of Bharti Airtel and Telenor India. The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a draft petition seeking to deposit Rs 1,700 crore security deposit. One telecom spectrum payment over Rs 1,499 crore is the one-time spectrum fee of Rs. 1,700 crore for airtel allocated for Airtel without auction.
The Supreme Court also ordered Dot to approve the merger of two companies. Once the merger is complete, the airtel spectrum expansion will increase in seven telecom circles. The 1800 Megahertz band will have 43.4 Mhz of spectrum in addition. Telenor operates in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East, West) and Assam. The National Company La Tribunal (NCCL) has already approved the Airtel-Telenor merger.
