Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has broken a rare record in the Tests. Bumrah, who took three wickets in the third Test in Melbourne against Australia, has become the first Indian fastest bowler to score the most wickets in the first year of his Test debut. Jasprit Bumrah, who made his five-day Test appearance with a Test match against South Africa on January 5, this year, has now taken 42 wickets in nine Tests.

The list of Indian bowlers who have taken the highest number of wickets in the history of the longest Indian Test cricket history have been scrutinized. In 1979, Dilip Doshi wrecked 40 wickets. In the third place, Venkatesh Prasad (1996) has 37 wickets while Narendra Hirwani (1996) has 36 wickets and Sreesanth (2006) with 35 wickets in the top-5. Bumrah, known as the Death Overs Specialist in One Day and T20, has been given a chance in the aftermath of the two-year-long wait.
