Panchayat elections should be held within three months
The High Court has directed the government to conduct panchayat elections in three months in Telangana. Some recently approached the High Court challenging the appointment of Special Officers in Panchayats. Several petitions have been filed against the appointment of Special Officers for the expired Panchayats, which are illegal and unconstitutional. The court heard that they had come together with the arguments of the petitioners.
The High Court has directed the Telangana government and the Election Commission to take steps to conduct elections in the Panchayats within three months. The court has criticized the absence of measures to ensure panchayat elections and not make the list of voters. With the implementation of the elections in three months, governments will continue to rule, and the election process has been directed to take action. The High Court said it was not a good practice to postpone elections for democracy.
