Former Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag was one of the aspirants for Team India Head Coach Job after Anil Kumble stepped down. However, It was Ravi Shastri who managed to become the head coach by the end of the selection process.
Finally, Sehwag revealed some shocking untold facts of the whole selection process. ‘I was never interested to be the coach of Team India. In fact, I was given the offer to be the coach. BCCI Acting Secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and Game Development MV Sridhar approached Me to make me accept the offer. Then, I had spoken to Virat Kohli and even he asked me to go ahead. That’s when I have moved my application,’ he says, apart from informing he would never apply for the Coach Job again.
During the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Sehwag asked Ravi Shastri why didn’t he apply for the Head Coach post. Then, Mr.Shastri told he will never apply for the post as he doesn’t want to commit the same mistake again. He, however, moved an application towards the end of the deadline. ‘I wouldn’t have applied had if I knew Ravi Shastri will be in the race,’ says Sehwag.
