Showcause Notice to Urjit Patel
The Central Information Commission (CIC) has issued a showcause notice to RBI Governor Urjit Patel. The Supreme Court has discredited the orders without disclosing the list of deliberate evaders. The Prime Minister’s Office, Finance Ministry and Reserve Bank (RBI) have asked the CBI to disclose the letter written by former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan on dull dues. The Supreme Court had earlier ordered RBI to lend a list of non-payment obligators who have to pay Rs 50 crore or more. However, the RBI did not announce the list. The CIC has ordered Ursjit Patel to show why the Supreme Court does not honor the Supreme Court judgment. “The Commission hopes that the RBI governor and deputy governor do not match. RBI does not disclose vigilance reports and inspection documents. The RBI is continuing with privacy, “the information commissioner Sridhar Achary said. The Supreme Court has said that the Commission is considering that the Governor is responsible for not complying with the CIC order and that he should issue a showcause notice and demand a reply by November 16.
