Vijayawada is a clean city
Vijayawada topped the cleanest cities in the country with a population above ten million. Vijayawada has been honored by the Union Urban Development Minister, Hartip Singh Puri, at the rankings of the Prizeservative 2018 here today. Greater Hyderabad is ranked as the best waste management city in Tirupati, the state capitals, with the best city in solid waste management of 1-3 lakh population. Ranks were declared as zones for cities with a population of over one lakh. Siddipet in Telangana is the cleanest town in the South Zone. Pejajiguda is the best town in the Bodhpapur, Best City in Innovation and Best Practices section in the BESTCITI in CITIZEN Feedback Section.
Indore, Bhopal and Chandigarh are the top three cleanest cities in the national level. Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh have topped the list of the top three states with the highest performance in sanitation. There were 23 ranks in the national level, while Andhra Pradesh got two and Telangana. Telangana has got three out of the 4 ranks in Southern Zone for the towns with a population of over one lakh. Based on the preference given to ODF (30%), information about sanitation, awareness (5%), change in behavior of citizens (5%), innovation (5%), garbage collection, transportation (30%), garbage cleaning (25%) These ranks have been announced. A total of 4,203 urban local organizations competed. 37.66 lakh people have been informed. Awards will be given soon, Minister Haddip Singh said.
